After a great first year, the Saxophone Workshop is back and better than ever!
The most important addition to this year's workshop is the incorporation of one-on-one instruction. Each student will receive a 30 minute private lesson as a part of the three-day workshop.
New classes will include a concentration on Jazz Styles, where students will work on some of big bands most recognized saxophone solis; and an introduction to the extended techniques of the saxophone including the altissimo register, double-tonguing and circular breathing.
Like last year, a concert featuring all quartets and selected soloists will be presented at the conclusion of the three-day workshop.
This workshop requires students to prepare a solo from the repertoire list prior to the first day. In addition, a packet of music including an assigned saxophone quartet part will be mailed to each student for preparation.
